When you receive services from NRH, we obtain certain information from or about you. This information primarily relates to your health care or payment for your health care. We will use and disclose this information and other information we collect in the ways described below.

We collect mobile phone numbers to communicate with patients via SMS and/or RCS text messages for purposes such as appointment reminders, billing notifications, care coordination, prescription refill notifications, passcodes or portal access links, health promotion/education, health portal updates, survey response invitations, and other communication needs. You are not required to opt in as a condition of receiving care. Participation is voluntary. However, opting out may prevent us from sending you timely updates regarding your care.

Your privacy is a priority. Your mobile number will not be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We will not use your number for unrelated marketing without your written or electronic consent.

"Newman Regional Health would like to share appointment reminders and important health updates with you via text. Message and data rates apply, message frequency may vary. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. You can opt-out at any time by replying STOP, or text Help for assistance. For more details, Please review our terms of use and privaccy policy at https://dev.newmanrh.org/about/legal/textingpractices/. Please respond YES to opt-in."

What happens when you first join:

  • When you consent to the text messaging service, you will receive a text message to welcome you to the program. It may be similar to “Welcome to NRH text communications. Msg & data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. You can text STOP at any time to opt out. Call (620) 343-2600 for help.”
  • Patients can request alternative communication methods (e.g., phone, mail, portal only) as a HIPAA right.

How to stop receiving SMS & RCS Messages:

  • You may opt out of receiving text messages at any time by replying "STOP." You will receive a final confirmation text to verify you have opted out. No further messages will be sent. If you would like to rejoin, you can authorize us to restart by texting "START."
