Newman Regional Health Welcomes Dr. Shari Quick and Peggy Fell as Leaders of Inpatient Rehabilitation Services
(EMPORIA, KS) Newman Regional Health is pleased to announce the addition of Shari Quick, MD, and Peggy Fell, APRN‑C, who will lead the hospital’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Program, strengthening services for patients recovering from serious injury, illness, and surgery.
Together, Fell and Dr. Quick bring decades of clinical experience, a shared commitment to patient‑centered care, and a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation medicine that supports patients on their journey toward recovery and independence.
Experienced Leadership for Comprehensive Rehabilitation Care
Dr. Shari Quick, a board‑certified physiatrist, joins Newman Regional Health with more than 25 years of experience in physical medicine and rehabilitation. She completed her residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where she also served as Chief Resident, and has spent over two decades caring for rehabilitation patients in Kansas.
Dr. Quick’s clinical expertise spans neurologic injury, stroke recovery, musculoskeletal conditions, and complex medical rehabilitation. Her professional background includes leadership roles in hospital governance, state advisory councils, and rehabilitation program development.
“Dr. Quick’s depth of experience in guiding interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams will be a tremendous asset to our patients and staff,” said Heather Alyward, Chief Nursing Officer for Newman Regional Health. “Her leadership supports our goal of delivering high‑quality, compassionate rehabilitation close to home.”
Working alongside Dr. Quick is Peggy Fell, APRN‑C, a highly respected advanced practice registered nurse with more than 16 years of experience in inpatient and post‑acute care. Fell earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Washburn University and has extensive experience caring for hospitalized patients, nursing home residents, and individuals with complex medical needs.
In addition to her role supporting Inpatient Rehabilitation Services at NRH, Peggy will also support patients admitted for acute care services alongside our hospitalist team. She will remain an integral member of the Hand In Hand Hospice team. Peggy has provided expert clinical oversight, including advanced symptom and pain management, comprehensive patient assessments, and close collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary hospice team since 1999. Her leadership and clinical expertise help ensure that every patient receives individualized care focused on healing, comfort, and quality of life.
At Newman Regional Health, Fell is known for her collaborative approach, strong clinical judgment, and dedication to continuity of care. In her role with the Inpatient Rehabilitation team, she helps coordinate treatment plans, manage medical needs during recovery, and support safe transitions of care.
“Peggy brings a patient‑focused mindset that is essential in rehabilitation medicine,” said Jessie Boyce, Director of Nursing for Inpatient Rehabilitation Services. “She has a deep understanding of the long‑term needs of our patients and works closely with families and care teams to ensure the best possible outcomes.”
